LegalShield Plans Provide Employees with Extra Support Amid Inflation Worries

February 1st, 2023

Inflation has significantly raised the prices of groceries, gas, utilities, and more during the past year. Whether employees commute to the office or work remotely, they face pressure from all sides due to increased living costs.

Beyond salary, employees increasingly look to their employers to help improve financial wellness. Employers can accomplish this by offering relevant benefits, including emergency savings funds, student loan assistance, financial education and planning, and legal assistance. When employees need legal assistance with tax disputes, consumer finance issues, renter disputes, and finance-related problems, having affordable legal guidance can help protect vital assets and increase peace of mind.

Consumer finance disputes are less stressful when employees have access to a provider lawyer.

By offering a legal benefit, employers enable their teams to access a local, dedicated provider law firm for a fraction of that cost and potentially save thousands of dollars annually. 1

Hiring a lawyer costs an average of $300 per hour.2 But for a small monthly payroll deduction, a legal protection benefit provides review, advice, and consultation on most common personal consumer finance matters, including:

  • Consumer Disputes: Utility bills, home contractors, warranties
  • Debt Disputes: Credit card debt, student loans, collection agency harassment, medical billing
  • Tax Problems: IRS audits, tax refunds, tax liens, back taxes, questions about Middle Class Tax Refunds, and other tax rebates or Child Tax Credit
  • Insurance Disputes: Health and car, home and renters, life
  • Family Matters: Prenuptial agreements, uncontested divorce*, adoption
  • Real Estate: Mortgages, security deposit, property damage, real estate contracts
  • Renter/Tenant Issues: Negotiation of leases, evictions, security deposits

They can expect a response in four hours or less. Perhaps the employee doesn’t have the time for a phone conversation, especially at work. They can schedule a convenient time to speak via the LegalShield web portal or the LegalShield mobile app.

* Uncontested divorce is included in the current Non-national Legal Plan. This is available 90 consecutive days from the effective date and includes an income limit on net marital assets. The expanded National Plan also includes uncontested divorce as part of the divorce service. This is available to the employee only on the effective date and without net marital income limits.

Employers will see the difference: Employees who are not distracted and stressed by legal problems can improve focus and productivity during work hours. Less stress helps them bring their “whole selves” to work.
